Which devices are compatible with engo3?
engo3 is compatible with over 81+ Garmin device and Apple Watch.
Garmin
To check if your Garmin is compatible with engo3, tap "Compatible devices" on the engo datafield page.
Apple watch
For now, engo3 is compatible with Apple watch through the ActiveLook app for iOs. Some features are not available for now: color display and the workout mode.
How to turn on my engo3?
Press firmly on the central button and wait for the light to turn green.
I can't find my glasses in the app
If your engo 3 glasses are not appearing in the companion app, follow the steps below in order. Most connection issues can be resolved in under two minutes.
1. Make sure your glasses are powered on and nearby
Power on your engo3 by pressing and holding the button until the LED indicator lights up. Keep the glasses within 1 metre of your phone during the pairing process to ensure a reliable signal.
2. Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
Open your phone's Settings and confirm Bluetooth is turned on. If it was already on, try toggling it off and back on to refresh the connection stack.
3. Grant the required app permissions
The engo3 app requires Bluetooth and Location permissions to discover nearby devices. Go to your phone's app settings and verify these permissions are set to Allow.
4. Disconnect your Garmin device from the glasses
The engo3 can only maintain one active Bluetooth connection at a time. If your Garmin watch is currently paired with the glasses, the app will not be able to find them.
On your Garmin device, navigate to Settings › Sensors & Accessories, select the engo3, and choose Remove or Disconnect before attempting to reconnect via the companion app.
Connection issue with Garmin
There are several reasons why your engo3 eyewear might not connect to your Garmin device:
- Are they sufficiently charged? Have they been turned on? Check our guide on how to properly charge and activate your eyewear.
- Are they already connected to another device? Your engo3 eyewear may only connect to one device (data source) at a time. Your engo3 eyewear needs to be disconnected from any other device or application before your Garmin is able to find and connect to it. To make sure your engo3 eyewear is clear of other pairings, force-close (kill) any engo3 compatible applications that may have connected to it.
- Your Garmin needs to be rebooted. Sometimes the engo datafield may not operate unless the Garmin device has been completely turned off and turned back on. This is often all that's needed.
- Your engo datafield is downloaded on your Garmin device, but is not activated for your current activity. After successfully downloading the engo datafield on your Garmin device, you then need to activate it in order to make it visible during your chosen activity. The specific engo datafield will then run and connect to your eyewear only when the corresponding Garmin activity (running, cycling, etc.) is launched. Ensure you open your activity and install the corresponding data field in that activity. Ensure the engo datafield is enabled in all the activities wherein you want to be able to use the data field.
Connection issues with Apple Watch
Here is what to check when your glasses are not detected or connected:
- The application may not have access right to the Bluetooth. Authorize Bluetooth to the ActiveLook Application: on your iPhone Go to Settings.Tap privacy & security. Tap Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth toggle for ActiveLook application.
- Your watch may have registered another pair of glasses and searches for it ? Tap the glass icon on your watch application. Tap 'new glasses' button to launch a new scan.
- Your glasses may not be powered-on or sufficiently charged. Check our guide to power and turn your glasses ON.
- They may already be connected to another device. Your glasses can connect to one device (data source) at a time. You need to disconnect your glasses from any other device or application before your Apple Watch is able to connect to it - this includes your iPhone. To do so, close the ActiveLook compatible applications that may have connected to it. To disconnect from a Garmin device, you need to exit the Garmin activity (application) into which your ActiveLook datafield is installed.
- Your glasses may simply be in 'quiet mode' (display off) : double-tap on your glasses to navigate to an active data page.
Installing the engo datafield on an older Garmin device
If you own an older Garmin device, the engo datafield will not be automatically added to your activities. You will need to add it manually for each activity.
To do so:
1. Go to this Garmin knowledge base page
2. Search for your device in the search bar
3. Follow the instructions specific to your model
Can I change the display position?
Understanding engo3's Head Up Display
Display Configuration
engo3 smart glasses currently feature a single display that appears in the right eye's field of vision. This display is positioned slightly to the left of your direct line of sight, creating an optimal balance between visibility and non-intrusiveness during athletic activities.
Right Eye Only Design
The current engo3 model is engineered with a fixed display configuration for the right eye. At present, there is no option to switch the display to accommodate left-eye dominant users. This standardized design allows us to optimize the optical components and maintain consistent manufacturing quality.
Adaptation Process
Many users, including those with left-eye dominance, report a remarkably quick adaptation period, typically requiring only a few minutes of active use. The human visual system demonstrates remarkable plasticity when processing supplementary information in the peripheral field.
The experience of viewing the engo3 display can be compared to glancing at road signs while driving. The information is readily available when needed, but your brain effectively filters it out when you are focused on other aspects of your performance or environment.
Recommended Adaptation Approach
For optimal adaptation, we recommend using your engo3 glasses outdoors during actual sport activities rather than testing them in static indoor environments. This contextual usage helps your brain naturally integrate the display information into your athletic experience.
The adaptation typically progresses through several phases:
- Initial awareness of the display presence
- Gradual reduction in conscious attention required to view data
- Seamless integration where the display becomes an extension of your natural awareness
This progression allows the head-up display to become increasingly intuitive until it feels like a natural part of your performance monitoring.
Our Satisfaction Guarantee
Understanding that individual adaptation experiences may vary, we have implemented a comprehensive 30-day trial period for all engo3 users. This extended evaluation period provides ample time to integrate the glasses into your regular training routine and fully assess their value to your athletic performance.
Should you find that the engo3 display does not adequately meet your needs after several weeks of consistent use, our support team will gladly assist with arranging a complete refund. Simply contact our customer service department to initiate the return process.
We remain committed to ensuring that every athlete has the opportunity to experience the benefits of engo3's head-up display technology in a risk-free manner.
engo3 and vision correction
Can I use engo3 with corrective eyewear?
engo3 is designed to work with various vision scenarios, here are the main considerations
Reading Glasses (Farsightedness)
✅ Reading Glasses: If you use reading glasses for farsightedness, engo3 is just perfect for you!
engo3's heads-up display technology uses what vision scientists call "virtual image distance"—projecting performance metrics at a comfortable viewing distance several meters away where your vision is naturally sharp. This not only eliminates the need for reading correction but also provides a crisp projected image, seamlessly integrated into your field of vision and much more readable than your own watch or bike computer !
Other prescriptions
ℹ️ engo3 does not include corrective lenses or support for corrective inserts at this time so it does not natively work for people with other prescriptions. However.. read below ! ;)
Contact Lens Wearers
✅ Contact Lenses: engo3 works excellently with all contact lenses. The display is positioned to be clearly visible without interference from your contacts.
Not Sure If engo3 Will Work For You?
We offer a risk-free 30-day trial period so you can test engo3 with your specific vision needs. If it doesn't work well with your eyewear or vision requirements, you can return and get a full refund within this period. Free shipping, both ways.
How to reset your engo3
It sounds like you might be experiencing a temporary issue.
To resolve it, you can try a hard reset:
Hard Reset:
- Simply press and hold the power button for at least 20 seconds.
- Then, plug your engo3 glasses in to charge normally.
If the Problem Persists:
If the hard reset doesn't fix the issue, we may need to take a closer look at your engo3 eyewear in our workshop.
Next Steps:
In that case, to get started with a workshop analysis, we'll need to confirm your shipping address. Please let us know if you'd like to proceed with this option, and we'll provide further instructions.
